HELP

If after reading this FAQ you need further assistance, please contact us at service@ealms.com.

What is eAlms.com?

eAlms.com is the  first Person-to-Person (P2P) charity network.  Anyone who has a need can post a listing on eAlms.com.  Other members can then make donations.

Who can receive charity?
Anyone who genuinely needs charity can post a listing.  Have an unexpected medical bill?  Are you a student unable to pay for your books this semester?  Did you lose your job and your child needs new shoes?  Whatever your need, someone can help.

Who can donate?
Anyone can!  There are two ways to give on eAlms.com: as a registered member of anonymously.  You can give as much or as little as you can.  eAlms aggregates donations from multiple members.

Do you have to be a non-profit organization to receive donations?

No.  Any private person can request assistance from other eAlms members.  You do not need to be associated with a registered charity.

I want to make a donation to someone.  Is this a secure website?

All payments are processed securely through PayPal (http://www.paypal.com).

When I make a donation, who collects the money?

eAlms is a service of Templar Capital, LLC, a financial company.   Templar Capital is not a registered non-profit organization and simply provides a forum where members can help each other as well as collects the funds.  Funds are then distributed to the members in need.

I posted a listing for a need I have.  When and how do I get my donations?

Donations are sent to recipients with completed listings every Friday.  A listing is deemed complete when the aggregate amount of donations received equals the amount requested, or if a listing expires with at least one donation.  Payments are sent via PayPal to a valid email address.

I just received my donations, but it’s less than I requested.  How come?

eAlms collects a small transaction fee of 5% on each donation.  In addition, our payment processor collects a small fee.  These fees are subtracted from the final donation payment.

I saw a listing from a member and I want to donate to him/her.  How do I know this is legitimate?

eAlms is a community of trust.  We expect all members to act with integrity and to post listing only for genuine needs.  For example, you may be a student who needs some money for books this semester, or someone who became injured and have a sudden medical bill you can't afford.  However, eAlms does not verify any member or listing.  It is up to each member who wishes to donate to another to verify the legitimacy of the request.  In this regard we offer an on-site communication system, a member rating system and a way to report fraud or abuse.

Are my donations tax-deductible?

Donating to private individuals is generally not tax-deductible, although you should check with your local laws.
